Ajax Categories Posts Dropdown Download Here is the general description: Lists all categories in a dropdown box and after selecting one the second dropdown box gets populated via Ajax with all posts from this category. You can use this plugin as widget (with some options) or just add the function to display the two dropdown boxes somewhere in your template files.

These are just the basics but will give you an idea how Thai grammar is structured and is definitely enough if you just go on holiday to Thailand and want to come up with a few “self made” sentences instead of sticking exclusively to Thai phrases from books.

Learn the complex Thai vowels in this lesson. Each vowel has either a long or short sound. In the Thai language, each vowel is pronounced with either a short or a long duration which alters the meaning of words! This is very much unlike English in which the meaning of words remains the same no matter how long you pronounce a vowel sound. Most Thai vowels can not stand alone and are either placed before, after, below or above consonants. Complex vowels consist of several parts and can be placed around the consonants. Many people have a problem opening these bags and some resort to “drastic ways of opening” like ripping them apart. The result can be quite messy, especially if you deal with soups. The Almighty Five Tones in Thai Lesson

The biggest problem for us foreigners who learn Thai is that we are not used to phonetic languages. In many Asian languages a word that is spoken with a different pronunciation can have a different meaning. In this episode we focus on the five different tones that are used in the Thai language. As an example we use the word “mai”.

Here are the different meanings and uses of the word:

The word mai:

is used to form other words if you say it with a middle tone
means “new” if you say it with a low tone
means “no” if you say it with a falling tone
is used at the end of a sentence to make it a question if you say it with a high tone
means “silk” if you say it with a rising tone

Counting in Thai is pretty straight forward and if you know how to count from 0-9 and a couple of special case for numbers like 11 or 20 its easy once you get the system. When I arrived in Thailand I really wondered what all this Haa-sib, hok-sib and whatever sib means. It really helps to know the numbers.
