Starting to learn Thai

If you are new to the Thai language you start the course with grammar lessons, review lessons, vocabulary lessons and intermediate conversation cycles (we explain this below). Learning to read & write Thai is optional. If you want to do this you start with our Thai alphabet mnemonics (visual memory aids) that will help you to learn the Thai alphabet in just a few hours instead of days.

How do you learn the basic structure of the Thai language?

The course has over 40 beginner grammar lessons in which you learn everything you need to know to form sentences, tell the time, learn to count, train your pronunciation and much more (the curriculum shows you all topics). Like all our lessons we have lots of examples that you have no doubt how to use what you have learned in everyday situations. To make this complete every grammar lesson has its own dedicated review lesson in which you practice what you have learned.

What are lesson cycles?

Lesson cycles are your express way ticket to learn Thai. They enable you to learn Thai faster without going over the same content over and over again. Lesson cycles are groups of lessons that relate to each other based on one topic or conversation. Here is an example of the structure of an intermediate conversation cycle:
  • Extended Vocabulary Lessons: In these lessons you learn key vocabulary, along with example sentences for the next lesson, the conversation lesson.
  • Conversation Lesson: See and hear a conversation between two native Thai speakers and train your listening skills.
  • Grammar & Word Usage Lesson: Learn new Thai grammar rules, how and when to use certain Thai words and Thai speaking habits that were used in the conversation lesson.
  • Review Lesson: Review what you have learned in the previous three lessons with fun translation exercises from Thai to English and English to Thai.

Thai for beginner, intermediate and advanced learners

No matter whether you’re just beginning to learn Thai, already speak some Thai or want to get into the fine details of the Thai language. The LTP Premium Course has lessons for you. We have three different difficulty levels (beginner, intermediate & advanced) and a separate section for everyone who wants to learn to read and write Thai.

Lessons relate to each other and we increase the difficulty from lesson to lesson. You make constant progress and learn new Thai words, grammar rules and speaking habits and then review lessons help you to go over things you have learned in the past again and reinforce what you have learned.

Pure Thai

If you look for an extra challenge or just want to train your listening skills, all intermediate and advanced lessons are also available as pure Thai versions without any English translations.

Thai learning so easy you’ll actually learn Thai.

Just a quick note to let you know how I feel about your course. I was thinking that I would try it out, but probably end up asking for my money back, but that won’t be necessary. Overall, I’m extremely impressed with your course and so is my Thai wife who is amazed how quickly I learn to speak and understand Thai.

Starting with Thai words & grammar

If you just started to learn Thai there are two main hurdles you have to take. Learn some common Thai language words quickly and understand the structure of the language to be able to form sentences.

This is exactly what we focus on in the beginner section of the course. You learn a hand picked selection of more than 3000 of the most common Thai words (+ 1000 more in the intermediate section). We selected words that you will actually use in every day life so that you can start to speak basic Thai in a matter of days.

Besides Thai vocabulary you learn all you need to know about the structure of the Thai language in over 40 grammar lessons. The grammar lessons have matching review lessons to make practicing what you have learned easy and fun.

Learn the Thai language rapidly

All our lessons come with lots of examples. Examples are so important because you see what you have learned in different contexts and therefore it becomes easier to remember. This works for words and grammar rules. Another benefit is that you develop a natural feeling for the sentence structure and the flow of the Thai language. After learning with our lessons for some time you will instinctively put the words in the right order.
Thai Words & Sentence Example

All our examples and actually everything we do comes with word by word translations. That means we break down every sentence, if possible, even every word into single words. Did you know that the Thai word for “handkerchief” actually consists of three words? In Thai it is “fabric” “to wipe” “face”. So by remembering the word by word translation for the word “handkerchief” you actually remember three words.

This learning technique is called chunking and is a proven system to remember more information faster. Our brain can just store groups of information easier than single bits and pieces. This brings us to the next technique we use in our course to enable you to learn faster and more efficient.

Different levels of language input

Studies show that exposure to language input of different difficulty levels helps you to learn faster. This works similar to training your muscles. In order to become stronger in a shorter period of time you have to challenge yourself.

The difficulty level increases from lesson to lesson. You can also try to learn with our intermediate conversation lessons right from the beginning.

Intermediate and advanced lessons come in groups of lessons that relate to each other and in which you practice the same words and concepts throughout different lessons without having to go over the same content over and over again. This makes learning more fun, more interesting and faster because you see words and concepts in different contexts.

Unlike learning in a Thai language class you can learn with our course at your own pace. Go back and forward and repeat passages in lessons you want to focus on as often as you want or skip complete lessons about things you already know.

To learn more about the learning techniques we use and the course structure have a look at our different lessons, the course structure and download our one year curriculum with an overview of all lessons and suggestions how you learn with our course.

Learn Thai wherever you are

Video & Audio Thai Lessons

Wouldn’t it be nice to always have your Thai learning materials in your pocket?

You wouldn’t have to plan ahead and carry books and notes with you. The flexibility to learn when and wherever you want to would also enable you to learn more often and therefore learn Thai faster.

Well, it is not only possible – the LTP Premium Course is made for that. Of course you can watch our Thai lessons online but you can also easily download them and transfer them to your mobile phone or mobile media player and enjoy them whenever and wherever you want to.

Learn Thai while driving home from shopping or while enjoying a walk in the park. No need to sit in front of the computer (you might do this all day long at work already). Just get comfortable on your couch with your favorite drink, sit back and learn for some time. Studies show that you learn faster if you are relaxed. If you are relaxed thoughts travel faster from your short term memory to your long term memory and this speeds up the learning process.

We have video, audio and pdf files to print for every lesson. So you can not only learn when and wherever you are but also learn exactly how you like to, no matter if you are a visual, auditory or kinesthetic learner.
